What Is Naturopathy?

The body is comprised of over 60 trillion cells. Each cell is a living organism that takes in oxygen and nutrients, converting them to energy and releasing waste. At any given time, up to 10 million cells could be in need of replacement. These dying cells no longer function as they should, creating conditions that can lead to disease, premature aging and breakdown of bodily functions.

What Can I Expect During My First Naturopathic Consultation?

During your first naturopathic consultation at Tree of Life Health Ministries, we will perform a saliva assessment, heart rate variability test and urinalysis. The results will help us understand your body's current nutritional status and overall health. Afterward, a naturopath will consult with you to:

• Review and explain test results
• Learn your health goals
• Teach you the basic principles of naturopathy
• Recommend food-based supplements and other natural therapies

This initial consultation usually lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. We recommend scheduling a follow-up consultation every 30 days to monitor your progress.

Costs associated with naturopathic consultations include:

• $99 for the first consultation
• $75 to $300 for recommended supplements
• $29 for each 30-minute follow-up visit

Preparing For Your Naturopathic Consultation

When you contact Tree of Life Health Ministries to schedule your appointment, we'll send you a packet with instructions and forms to fill out; or you may download and print the New Client Letter on our Resources page, which will detail the additional forms to download and complete.

Begin fasting from all food and drink at 8:30 p.m. the night before your consultation. If you must take medication, use as little water as possible. Don't brush your teeth after 9 p.m.

In the morning (any time after 5 a.m.), collect your urine in a clean container. (The container does not have to be sterilized.) Before eating, drinking or brushing your teeth, collect at least 3 ml (½ - ¾ tsp) of saliva (no mucous) in a clean container or supplied syringe. Refrigerate the samples if your appointment is after 12 noon that day. Finally, bring any nutritional supplements you are currently taking with you to the consultation.
