Frequently Asked Questions

What is naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a distinct system of primary health care that addresses the root causes of illness and promotes health and healing using natural therapies. These therapies are often referred to as “alternative” or “complementary” in reference to the conventional healthcare model. Naturopaths look at a client as a whole person and take the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions into account when recommending supportive therapies. Naturopathic medicine is based on six fundamental principles:

Why might someone choose to see a naturopath?

Clients at Tree of Life choose to see our practitioners and consultants for a variety of reasons, some of which include:

What is the difference between naturopathy and homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a specific system of medicine that uses diluted potencies of natural substances to stimulate the body to heal itself.
Naturopaths are trained in the use of homeopathy as a potential natural therapeutic treatment option.

Does your office offer care for children?

Yes, Tree of Life offers services and therapies for people of all ages, including infants and children.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Because most of the services we offer are considered non-medical care, they are not covered by insurance. Massage is occasionally covered when it’s related to an accident and recommended by a licensed health professional. Some plans allow you to use pre-tax dollars for over-the-counter products, but this varies. We require upfront payment. You are responsible for applying to receive benefits.

What payments are accepted?

We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. We require full payment for all services and products at the time of your visit.

Are the supplements you offer safe to use?

All of the supplements we recommend are manufactured with the highest quality materials, and most are produced from organically grown food. In 15 years of business, no one has ever been harmed by our recommendations.

How does naturopathy differ from medical care?

Medical care traditionally diagnoses and treats disease with drugs. Naturopaths do not diagnose or treat disease. We support your body and your own ability to heal by assisting you with good diet, exercise, food-based supplements and detoxification.

I have a limited budget. How can you help me?

Yes, we can work with you to keep costs to a minimum if you have a limited budget.
